February 24, 2025

HARRISBURG—Penn Township has been awarded $350,000 in a Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) state grant, according to Rep. David Rowe (R-85) and Sen. Lynda Schlegel-Culver (R-27). The grant will be used to reconstruct South Front Street located in Penn Township, Snyder County.

The MTF provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancements, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets and transit-oriented development.

“Obtaining this grant for Penn Township will benefit all area residents and businesses and spur future economic growth for Snyder County,” said Rowe. “These funds will help upgrade our roads while also improving transportation options, making road conditions safer and modernizing traffic efficiency, all while saving local governments and taxpayers money.”

“It’s incredible news that Penn Township has been awarded Multimodal Transportation Funds,” said Culver. “This grant will directly support the reconstruction of South Front Street, a project essential for maintaining a safe and reliable transportation system for the county’s residents and businesses.”
